Why does this happen?

Why when I record a new audio clip into a new track in arrangement view is it called 1-Audio 1, and the second time I record it ALSO called 1-Audio 1? This doesn't make sense. It only starts calling it 1-Audio 2 on the THIRD pass. Is this some bug?
