Max For Live Packs that don't work on standalone
I could not find this post elsewhere so thought I'd put it here.
Could we start a list of Max For Live packs that are semi or non-functional on standalone?
Particularly there are many downloadable on the device that don't work because they have unsupported externals or require specific UI interaction,
Common sense for some but not everyone.
For example:
Non Functional
IRCAM 1 + 2
Modulators by K-Devices
Patter
Semi-Functional
Iota
Inspired by Nature
Tricky Traps
Oscillot + Bengal

I never found the Kasio nor the Katsuhiro Chiba offerings stable, and I ought to know better, as they are discontinued. low and behold, I only just discovered the Opfour presets, thinking this device must have a devoted following, and that perhaps it had been tested and debugged since my early first impressions.
Bricked my Push within seconds of loading
Rule of thumb: if it came at a cost in the Live version, I’m definitely not putting it in my push, even if they warrant studio use:
Dub Machines
Time and Timbre
Herse
Alter echo
Outer Spaces
And more times than not, my experience has been that synth devices are the hardest to justify, with one shining exception:
Chiral
Bricked my Push within seconds of loading

Is Chiral 100% working on the Push 3 standalone? What is the latest version of Chiral, do you know that?braduro wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 4:43 pmI never found the Kasio nor the Katsuhiro Chiba offerings stable, and I ought to know better, as they are discontinued. low and behold, I only just discovered the Opfour presets, thinking this device must have a devoted following, and that perhaps it had been tested and debugged since my early first impressions.

I’m away from my studio. Chiral has seen updates over the course of rolling out live 12. I don’t recall seeing a modulation table, so is it fair to say that it’s 100% compatible? And version tracking is easier to accomplish when youre buying the license directly from the developer. Where would you look on the Packs market on Ableton? In the lessons view?

What was your experience with Dub Machines and Outer Spaces?
For me they seem to work well in Standalone.
Re: Max For Live Packs that don't work on standalone
I didn’t try.
I just know from the loading times and CPU, particularly for magnetic, that I didn’t want to find out
I think a related thread could be something like “what’s your bottom line/best practices for making sure that Push 3 remain a performance instrument?”
My criteria for standalone is more stringent than just “is it fully functional”.
To me, that might apply to controller mode, but even then the device itself would need to be evaluated for stability in live, not to forget volume safety (not at risk for runaway feedback, etc) among other things

Chiral works flawlessly for me. Opal is limited. The other Fors stuff seems to work just fine.

The Dub Machines devices works perfectly on P3S.
