Relative midi pitch modulation in Live 12?

Post by Gisbert » Wed Mar 27, 2024 11:06 pm

I want to do relative midi pitch modulation, like:

If a midi clip has played one, the midi pitch device increases a defined number of steps. The midi pitch device in Live 12 has an increase and decrease button, but these are not mapable.

Why? I am sketching phrases of tonal sequences which modulate from one key to another and having the pitch device do the modulation is much more convenient than creating endless midi clips for all possibilities.

I found a workaround using the expression control increments, but that is not always working reliably.

You can try unlinked Clip envelopes, a 1-bar MIDI Clip can have a 4-bars unlinked automation/modulation envelope for the Pitch devices with the automation or modulation rising or lowering every bar (while the MIDI notes keep looping every 1 bar)

You could also make use of a rack I suppose.
