Does hardware specs affect Tempo Follower?

Post by atom_jack » Mon Apr 08, 2024 4:11 am

Longtime user, first time poster. I’ve been having fun jamming on a drum kit with Live’s Tempo Follower to clock external synths. My next plan is to recreate my home rig to be as mobile as possible so I can begin jamming with others and possibly even gig. This would mean obtaining a computer that’s more discrete than my current one (2015 MPB quad core). Im looking to try out a Surface Pro 4 (dual core) because they’re cheap and meet the minimum requirements for Live 12.

Will there be noticeable difference in Tempo Follower’s ability to adapt to an audio signal when using low-spec computer versus a high end one? There doesn’t seem to be much information behind the magic of this feature out there.
