Ableton 12 - Controller : Novation SL Mkiii

I am sure its me....but I have not figured out my error.
If I enable MPE in preferences....I lose mod wheel...but after touch works.
If I turn off MPE .... mod wheel works.....but after touch is gone.
Any insight or direction to post that fixes this is appreciated!
