Using Drum Rack pads to automate on/off of effects in the Audio Effect Rack in a different Group Track.
Using Drum Rack pads to automate on/off of effects in the Audio Effect Rack in a different Group Track.
My goal is to trigger native effects on/off (ex. Beat Repeat) in a Group Track by tapping pads in a Drum Rack.
The idea is to use the "External Audio Effect" to send midi notes from each Drum Rack pad to a midi receiver in a different Group Track, and then use Midi Mapping in the Group Track to toggle effects on/off.
I see that it's possible if the effect is a VST with midi in, but I can't set it up with native plugins because I can't find any M4L device that can act as a Midi receiver in an audio track.
Any suggestion, or alternative approach for this live automation? Thanks!

Are you using a hardware controller or just wanting to click Drumrack pads onscreen?

You can load instances of Expression Control or Shaper MIDI in Drum Rack pads, or key-mapped Chains in Instrument Racks.
Live's modulators can modulate across multiple Tracks.

@siliconarc hardware, I want to use Drum Rack in Push 2 to live perform stutter or rhythmic effects on master or groups
@pottering thanks, I tried Shaper Midi, but couldn't find how to map an on/off switch of an effect. It works fine on things that modulate (like knobs).

You can also load FX in separate Chains in a Audio Effect Rack, zone the Chains separately and then map a range of notes (pads in controllers like Push usually send MIDI notes) to the Chain Selector.

LOL, just searched in Live's Browser here, found a couple devices I had built for someone who asked for a device that toggles with MIDI notes, had forgotten I ever built those.

You can drag them into Drum Racks or Instrument Racks.
