ADAT has completely stumped me. Can you help?

Hi there
I have a Push 3 and a Presonus Quantum 2626. I've hooked them up to each other with ADAT, with the objective of having the 8 inputs of the 2626 being added to the Push 3 audio interface (i.e. the P3 would be master).
I can't get it to work at all. The ADAT outs from the 2626 seem to be from 11+ onwards, but the inputs on the front of the 2626 are just 1-8. Perhaps I'm being noobie, but I'm stumped. The P3 shows channels 9-16, but there's no sound coming through on any of them when I put a signal into any of channels 1-8 of the 2626.
I've also tried Standalone mode, but this doesn't seem to work either. I'm completely lost. Does anybody have any advice on how this is meant to work? I've tried watching YouTube videos etc, but now I'm wondering whether the 2626 and the P3 just aren't compatible.
Please help

If you're able to set out a really simple explanation of how it should work I'd be grateful, too!
Thank you!

I don't know if it's possible but you should hook the 2626 up to a computer install the driver and open the mixing software, then hook up the ADAT to the the Push 3 and send signals from a DAW to the 8 inputs for ADAT on the Push 3. This way you can monitor in the mixer on the computer which tracks are getting signal from the computer. Then do the exact opposite.
I did this with an RME Fireface 800 that can work standalone to give my Babyface FS 8 ADAT in/outs. I hooked it up to the old computer to monitor what tracks were being sent signals. It shouldn't be too hard. The issue will be the same as what I have with the Babyface, ADAT 1 from the Presonus will be input 3 or 5 on the Push 3, since it's own inputs will likely be first in line. In my case it gets weirder because the FF800 has 10 inputs and 1, 7, 8,9,10 are the most useful since they have pre amps attached, so it's a headache to set up.

Thanks for this!
Following your suggestions taught me that the Quantum 2626 only allows routing to be setup via Studio One
It's since been sold and replaced with an Audient EVO 16 which is working better

Cool cool. I'm waiting on Push 3 until you can string a simple song together on it without attaching it to a computer. When that happens I'm on board. I have ADAT setup to an old Fireface 800, using a Babyface FS now, which I could sell if and when the Push 3 gets some sort of MPC level song mode.
