I have a vision problem, so the overall UI interface is critical for me to work longer. I realize my eye gets exhausted easily when using 12. I tried many ways such as HiDPI and Zoom-in. But still, can't get the ideal result. Zoom-in makes everything bigger indeed but also squeezes the work area.

I finally realized that the font in 12 is quite different from 11. Which I believe is the reason why makes it harder to see.

Is there any way to change the font in Ableton 12? Otherwise, I will stick to 11 until this function is added

It should be looking the same, but not. I guess I need to find the best font that works for me to replace the 12 font.

I wish I could help, but appart from playing with Live’s UI Zoom preference, the Themes and contrast settings, and doing the same at the OS level I can’t suggest more. I’m wondering if your Hidpi could actually make things worse?
The font didn’t change (ie it’s still the Ableton Font), but it might be a bit thinner in L12.
Did you try the new L12 screen reader feature?
It might be worth checking in the Knowledge Base, and don’t hesitate to ask Support if your search doesn’t provide any good solution.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a hack where Live’s font was changed, but I can’t remember where unfortunately.

Thank you very much! As you said, I believe the font files in 12 are the same as those in 11.
I am using 11 for now. I will test 12 for more until it looks good to my eyes.

Any news, is it better now?

I just upgraded to Live 12, and right after opening it, I noticed the same issue.
It really bothers my eyes, or mind, who knows, hard to tell..

I don't think it's just the fonts. I think it's the theme, or maybe the whole UI.
In Live 11, I used the Dark theme. The Dark theme in Live 12 is different.

It feels like an inverted version of the old one (11).
In 11, the background was darker and the buttons were lighter.
In 12, it's the opposite.
Everything in Live 12 looks softer or washed out.
The contrast feels off, and problably makes it harder to focus for long periods.

Hope there’s a solution for that.

In Dark Mode the text (ControlForeground) is not complete white. I changed the color of the text with https://themecreator.live/.
