Akai LPD8 - Does not appear to work with blue hand focus

Hi,

I recently bought an Akai LPD8, which is super portable and I really like the unit.

However, it doesn't seem to work with the blue hand focus. I can map the buttons using midi map, but if I map a CC number to two separate devices the knob controls both at the same time.

I have the Akai script loaded and everything checked - Control Surface / Input / Output and also Track / Sync / Remote.

If for example I use my Arturia Minilab, this works out of the box.

At a bit of a loss. Any help much appreciated :)

Thanks

Just got one today, and having the same problem with blue hand focus and the knobs. All other controllers have mapped fine.

Think I solved it. The default CC values for the knobs don't match the config required by Live.

Download the LPD8 program editor from the AKAI site. Change the CC for K1 to K8 to the values 1-8. SEND the changed parameters.

(I then went completely OCD and changed program 2 to cover pads 9-16, and programs 3 & 4 to have different CC values for the knobs for normal mapping purposes. Really simple editor.)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply (I'd not checked back in!!)

Yep, I've got the editor and the pad worked fine. Do you mean CC1 - 8? Is that the cc's for the Macro buttons? I can assign them, but they don't stay on the device with the blue hand. They will still control any element mapped to the knob.

Thanks :)

Ah, okay, I had a different problem in that it wasn't working with the macro controls at all (resolved as above).

Have you tried assigning the settings you want to control to macros, which should then work independently on each track.

Hi, yes I can assign them, but they don't follow the blue hand. For instance if I have say an eq on track 1 (Macro 1) assigned to the first knob of the LPD8 and also a filter assigned on a device on track 2 (Macro 1) assigned to the same knob, both will get moved by the knob, not just the device in focus i.e. the one with the blue hand.

This seems to work automatically with my other controllers.

Thanks

Are you manually mapping the macros to the knobs, or are they automatically mapped (as they should be).
Did you check with the LPD8 Editor to see if the knobs are assigned to the right midi CCs (listed in my earlier posting).
Otherwise it sounds like a different issue to what I had. Weird.
