For the life of me I can't seem to find a good place to make product improvement suggestions so maybe this is the best spot. Please let me know if otherwise.
I almost exclusively use the search function (Cmd + F) to quickly add devices to my tracks as opposed to digging through menus or folders to find what I'm looking for. I'm noticing however that the search capabilities are limiting as they're too literal. In order to add an EQ Eight for example if I type 'eq ei' (with the space) then it will surface the device at the top of the options allowing me to just hit Return to select it and Return again to add it to my clip. If I don't add the space however and type 'eqei' it shows 'No Results'. This limitation makes it much slower to add devices. I use a 3D app called Houdini which has seemingly thousands of different device like tools (nodes). Their 'Tab' menu (evoked when you hit the Tab key) is a quick entry system that allows you to type in a search query to find a particular node and hit return to quickly add it. Their search logic allows you to omit spaces and or just type the first few letters or the first letters of each word, for example if I want to add an 'Attribute Wrangle' I can just type 'aw' and it will be the first option allowing me to immediately add it by hitting return. I would love for Ableton to extend the search query capabilities to enable this level fluidity. For example I would like to be able to just type 'ee' and hit return to add an EQ Eight device. Having to type out the literal name adds friction especially once you get used to systems that allow for more flexibility.
Thanks for considering!
