Looping multiple pads from a Drum Rack

Sorry if this has been covered previously. I have a drum rack that contains a lot of elements that occur in a session. I would like to create a loop of just the kick/snare/hat, which occupy three of those pads. The loop would be recorded during a few bars near the intro, but would not need to be played back until much later. I only have two pads remaining in my bank for the session, so ideally, I could use one pad to first record the passage, then use another pad to alternate between "stop" and play on subsequent presses. What would be my routing/mapping to get this done? Thanks!
