I’m Back

Well what do you know, I’m like the Prodigal Son.
I sold my Live 9 Suite license in 2018 and moved over to Logic. Like most people, I had plenty of copies of Live Lite lying around from buying hardware so I used one and installed Lite 10. I Rewired it to Logic now and then, limited to eight tracks. Then with Live 11 Rewire support vanished.
Today I happened to see a sale at Sweetwater for upgrading Lite to Standard, dropping from $369 to $199. I couldn’t resist, so I’m back in the saddle.
To replace Rewire I use a Logic feature called Logic Pro Virtual In/Out, two MIDI buses that support 16 bidirectional channels to other applications running on my Mac. That gives me clock synch and transport control. I installed the shareware Blackhole for 16 channels of bidirectional audio (up to eight stereo pairs). So I get the same functionality as Rewire did, but now I can use my Launchpad with Live while using my Nektar keyboard with Logic, something which Rewire did not allow.
I’ve got a lot to learn about Live 12 so I’ll be back soon to ask my stupid questions.
P.S. Any Lite users wanting to move to Standard, or maybe you need a second license for some reason...the Sweetwater sale ends on March 12th, 2025.
