Impulse preset change resets input routings, feature/bug?

I spent some quality time with Live 5.0.1 (Win) by creating a nice Live set with all the individual outputs of the Impulse sample slots routed to separate audio tracks, complete with effects. I then routed the tracks to a submix audio track to control the volume of the whole kit and maybe add EQ.

The problem is, if I then go to the preset browser and change the Impulse kit, all the input routings in the audio tracks are reset to "No input". Is this perhaps by design? Is it so that changing the preset from the browser deletes the Impulse instance and inserts another? What would be the workaround to keep the input routings in place when changing the kit? (The output routings are not reset, they still go to my submix track.)

I just realized that in Live 5 you should be able to merge this baby into another set by dragging it from the browser - instant drum setup. Have to try that...

hi Cone,

thank you for your report. is is a known issue, http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23083 but currently I can't say if and when this will be fixed.

the routings should persist, if the impulse kit is replaced by another impulse kit and not by an impulse device group. if a device group replaces an single impulse, the routings are lost.

thank you for your help,
matthias

Thanks for the reply, Matthias. I should have done a forum search, but there are many ways to explain that. Also the title of my post might have been misleading, but good you got it anyway.

Also good to know that it is acknowledged and could be fixed. I was expecting the preset browser to just replace the parameter values, and not to do a delete/insert cycle. But indeed, after changing the preset the next undo step is "Undo Insert Device".

This is not a showstopper, but it is tedious to assign the routings again, since I want the separate audio tracks to take as little space as possible. I have resized them to the minimum track width, but then you can't access the routings without making them wider again.

The preset change behaviour is not the same with Simpler and Operator - after changing the preset, the undo operation is "Undo Apply Preset X".
