Faderfox midi mapping volume weird

Hi eveyrone
When I'm midi mapping a volume knob from my faderfox on ableton, for some reason the volume does not start at 0 db. It starts at some random number. 0db happens to be 3pm position around clockwise on the knob and +6db at the full knob turn to the right, which means if I want to make subtle changes go volume INCREASE is quite hard, because I've only got a tiny bit of the knob to turn.
Basically when midi mapping volume knobs, how do you make sure that 1200 is 0db
Anyone can help with this, would be really appreciated!
Cheers
