Djing with Serato and Ableton Push

Hey guys, I am creating a live setup that combines Ableton and Serato.

Currently, I have a laptop that runs Ableton connected to a push 3. Then, I have a mini pc + portable monitor that runs Serato with a DDJ 1000 SRT. The two are connected via Ableton Link to make Ableton follow Serato's Master Tempo. Now, I'm envisioning using Ableton as an expansion of Serato- able to launch clips/loops/songs from the Push 3 interface and mix them with the audio from my DJ Controller output to do some live remixing.

Currently, I have the ddj 1000's booth output feeding into the external input of the push 3- allowing Serato's audio to act as an audio channel within ableton. With the push 3 launching clips on different channels, I have been able to get a rugged idea that this setup has potential to work. Fianlly, I have the push exporting to the master output. I'm thinking the final step is getting a midi programmable mixer controller to allow me to fine control the EQs of Abletons channels within ableton.

Has anyone worked with a setup like this before? Would you make any changes to my current plan? Improvements? I am all ears! Gear recommendations are appreciated too.

This is more to keep a dialog, a sounding board for you to work this out, because it sounds cool. I don't think you need a controller for the EQ, although you could look at this:

to me, the Channel EQ feels good under the hands with a push. And the latest AutoFilter, also a native device now has a DJ style sweep filter.

If you want to offload any power to this setup, you might consider how you are doing your momentary effects. I think a chaos pad might be a good edition.

I don't know much about serato, but there might be a better way of outputting sync midi from ableton rather than using Link in this particular case.

Also, if you're doing traditional beat match djing--not just turntabilism--this latest announcement that streaming service, not just licensed downloads now works in serato from Apple Music. I know this could potentially help folks leverage their library a bit better
