Can new Powerbooks boot in OS9?

Can anyone clarify if the newest range of Apple Powerbooks can be set up to boot in OS9? As I understand they ship with OSX but you can set up an OS9 System. I,ve heard you have to install it from CD yourself and it can be a bit tricky.
Anyone care to comment?

apart from the fact that I can't see why this should be discussed in the Bugs&Problems forum (except that you think it is such a shortcoming that it should be classified as such
)....
no, the new Powerbooks don't boot OS9. The 15" ones introduced late last year still do (I just got one and am extremely happy with it, and I run OS9 99 percent of the time.)

They may not boot up in OS9,but why cannot one choose from the startup menu OS9..Or when one buys a new mac install OS9,then upgrade to osx/ok a bit of work but should be ok??

I dont think that this is a missposted thread.
I have a 1 gig titanium that runs very unstable under 9..maybe its the german installation...or the hammerfal cardbuscard clashing maybe with new hardware...or ableton live in conjunction with the reme or or...i ve to find a solution...any hints how to do a clean install of os 9 on a new powerbook would hel to isolate the cause of the problem and therefore its aswell related to bugs or possible bugs in live...
You run a stable OS 9 on a 1 gig powerbook?
what audio hardware are you using?

My 867 Ti is very stable... in OS9 and X. You can do a clean install by initialising/partitioning the HD and generally by starting the system from CD/DVD (press C while the computer is booting)
Before you do this, though, make sure you have enough memory assigned to Live and that unnecessary extensions are switched off.
I am waiting for delivery of my Motu 828, but right now I'm only using the built-in audio device (Asio/Sound Manager)

My Powerbook runs very well in both 9 and x..Best to do for help and installation is join the support forums at Apple.com..Many pros and geeks who would be very helpful in getting your Mac tuned properly..I use the forums often at Apple and learn so much..You may find your answer if you do searches as well as I'm sure you are not alone.
