How much is the manual to Live 5? I've got the soft version but I'd quite like to get a hard copy. I was a bit annoyed that I didn't get one with the upgrade

umm...
when you upgrade you are given a choice
what you chose is up to you

Mike, that only applies if you are given the choice in the first place. Boxed upgrades were not available in all situations.
From the Ableton newsletter mailed out on June 1:
Accommodation for recent buyers of Live 4:
• For customers who purchased Live 4 between May 1, 2005 and May 31,
2005, downloadable upgrades to Live 5 will be available for 49 EUR/USD
from the Ableton webshop.
No mention of boxed upgrade, not available in the web shop. Hence I also would like to purchase the Live 5 printed manual. (Provided it has the convenient spiral binding and the keyboard shortcut flap like the Live 4 manual.)

we shouldn't have to buy one, that's what annoys me!

you've paid less for the download version than the boxed version right? so thats because you've got no manual etc.
can't you just print it? if no printer could surely get it done at a copying place or something. i print mine at work, double sided and shink to put 2 pages per side so its not thicker than the bible

Two words: spiral bound. Plus the PDF version does not have a table of contents, and it has an excessive amount of white space.
Yes, I paid less for the downloadable upgrade. That leaves me some money to buy the manual if I want to, if I only could.

you didnt buy a manual - you got a free .pdf one
take it to a printers and get it printed for fucks sake and stop whining!
it'll cost you practically nothing
or try this > open the .pdf and hit print

I got the deal where you bought 4 and got the free upgrade, there was never any mention that it was a 'no frills' or budget upgrade, I thought i was going to get the box. Gutted I didn't.

yes - it was a free upgrade/serial - no mention of a full boxed upgrade, it would of cost a fortune!!
i agree just stick it on disc and go to a printers, will be cheaper than any official manual (thats if it was avalible)

It's not possible to buy the manual. Because you can download it for free. (with Live)
