Using a group with multiple routings for tracks contained within

Ok, so I think what I'm trying to do is very simple. But Ableton is acting weird about it.

I have some drums. I'd like to be able to solo them for obvious reasons. I have the kick routed to the master bus because I want it to go direct to the master bus without any processing. I have the hats and snare routed to a track called "SUBMASTER" which has EQ and compression. When I solo the Group track I hear nothing. When I mute the Group nothing is muted. It's like the Group controls have NO effect. Volume slider does nothing either.

It is not possible to group tracks that are routed to different places? The whole idea here is I want to control mute/solo for a Group of tracks. Yet it seemingly will not allow this. Is there some sort of "solo group" I need to be making? This is very non-intuitive. Controls simply aren't working as expected.
