Adjust grid for clips?

Post by Morceaux » Sat Apr 26, 2025 6:08 pm

I want the resolution of the grid in clip view to be finer than 1 quarter note. Or at least an adaptive grid, like inside Live.

Is that possible? I've searched everywhere, and it doesn't look possible. Double-checking here before I give up.

This has been one of my major gripes with Push since early days. No idea why you can't go more granular.

I am a bit shocked. Seems a pretty basic and important function for using in standalone, especially. Hope they at least add an adaptive grid soon.

Change the steps resolution by using the Scene buttons?

Thanks, I don't use step sequencers, so I never noticed that. But we should be able to change the grid resolution on the screen when working in the 64-note layouts. Or at the very least, once you change the grid resolution in one of the step sequencer layouts, the grid should stay at the selected resolution as you change layouts.

Anyway, thanks for pointing this out. The manual mentions the scene buttons changing the resolution of the sequencer, but doesn't mention that the screen resolution changes with it. I just might try to work today in Sequencer+32 Note layout instead of 64-note just so I can access the scene buttons.

jur, we are talking about the grid in clips. I, in particular, am talking about Audio clips. Currently on push you can't go fine enough to fine tune the start point of a sample (that hasn't been recorded on the grid). Holding shift gives you a slightly finer adjustment but it's not enough.

Audio clips is a different story for sure. I reckon this could benefit enhancements.
It'd be worth suggesting or upvoting this on Centercode if you're participating in P3's beta testing.
Kind words to Support are also welcome.

Hi. OP here. Just to be clear, while audio clips also need this update, I had MIDI clips in mind when I wrote this post. They suffer from the same problem. The grid on the screen doesn’t change, unless you happen to be in a step sequencer.

Which is hopeful- because clearly the capability to change grid on the screen already exists and works. It just needs to be implemented to the 64 pad layout for midi and audio clips.
