BPM Sample and BPM Session

Post by NewCreatures » Wed Apr 30, 2025 2:31 pm

Hello everyone !
I'm using ProTools for my job, i'm back (after a few years...) on Ableton on my free time between two mixing/sound design sessions.
And I must confess that I really missed it a lot !! :P
I remember the general functions, but I forgot how to use in detail some tools.
I'll do my best in order to explain :

My BPM session is at 120, I took a song which I inserted in a MIDI track, and wanted to sample some bits from it.
The entire sample is Warped, and when I played some different notes on my keyboard (always the same intro of the sample), I got a really cool rythm.
The rythm i played on the sample was approximately at 89/89.5 BPM.
Of course, I wanted to add some drums and maybe bass/keys etc...
Maybe have you already faced what my problem is : when I changed the tempo session at 89 in order to play the drums, my sample didn't play the same way... When I unwarp the sample to get along with 89 BPM from the session, it doesn't play the same way as I discovered in the beginning :x
I created an audio track which receives the audio from the MIDI Track, and I could play and rec some loops " by hand ", but it's not precisely at 89 BPM and not on the beat if I want to add some elements.

Have you and idea how to " separate " the tempo of the MIDI Track (which creates the cool 89 BPM rythm warped to the 120 BPM session) from the rest ?
I know that the situation and my explanation are not that easy, thank you
