Specifically those two.What is the difference?

I've read a bit about them both from their web sites and i am quite new to the midi routing options thing so please help shed some light.

I THINK controlaid is what i'm after?
I'd like to be able to use a midi footcontroller to say for instance:Create new audio track and then record arm the first clip slot then create a new track and so on.

From what i gather about bidule,i could assign my oxygen 8 knob 1 to do several things at once such as tweak several fx parameters all at once???

Which one are you using and what do you use it to control??

it's a shame you're not on a PC. BOME's midi translator along with a program called Autohotkeys is pretty much an unlimited powerful combination that even blows things like bidule out of the water for being lightweight and providing awesome controlling manipulation of midi and key/program functions.

What about Apple's new Automator feature, does that work with Live?

I use a Behringer fcb1010 floorboard with Plogue Bidule.

Once your MIDI is in Bidule, virtually anything you can think of is possible.

The only drawback I can think of is that, when everything is possible, it's still up to you to make the right choices.

-but you can't use midi to create a track, so you'll definitely need some midi->keystroke stuff. I think controlAid only does keystroke->midi, and not the other way around, but I could be wrong though...

I've just started using Plogue Bidule. Although the interface is quite primitive, it is extremely powerful. Like Machinate says, the difficult part is knowing what you want to do with it.

Well, in this field I'm a bit insecure.
Basicly, everything that may be controlled with midi note and midi CC in Live may be transformed/mapped from input like keystrokes etc by Bidule to Live.
Bidule comes with a HID controller, mapping keystrokes, handheld devices etc to midi notes.

controlAid is built more for people who don't have time to learn how to use an app like Bidule. If you already have a good knowledge of signal flow under your belt and have used apps like Bidule, Reaktor, Max/MSP or PD it's better to go with one of those as you'll be able to customize it better.

That said, neither will allow you to create a track via midi at the moment (as far as I know). controlAid provides an already built interface for controlling as many controls as you would like via a single knob on your oxygen.The channel switching feature of controlAid is also very useful to people using foot controllers.
