It would seem not as as a selected group track shows only the "Drop Audio Effects Here" hint.

Use case:

Access parameters or instrument rack macros from a single shared set of macros for performance

How would you do this? It seems like an oversight as surely otherwise you have to jump between tracks.

Is it not possible to control say the drum bus parameters of a drum track and say the filter and cutoff of a synth on another track from a single location?

Ah ... you can do it with a drum rack

An instrument rack (C) on one cell and a drum rack (B) on another cell of a drum rack (A)

Map macros for the instrument rack (C)

Map macros for the drum rack (B)

Map those macros (of B and C) to the macros of the container drum rack (A)

Is that the correct way to approach it? Correct as in the most 'idiomatic' for Live?

You can use the "Map 8" m4l device. It's a 8-knobs rack-style device where each knob is freely mappable anywhere.

Or use the good ol' LFO trick:
- load LFO on your parent group track,
- set its Depth to 0,
- map desired parameter,
- rack LFO and map its "Offset" to a rack macro. The "Offset" will basically acts as a manual remote.
Rinse and repeat for other macros.
