Gentlemen, why does version 12.3 only take up 4.52 GB of space, while 12.2 took up ~8.5 GB? Could some important information have disappeared?

Could be the previous were side by side. Live always asks if you want it to overwrite the older version.
There is also a db file that will increase if you add folders under places.

You didn't lose anything

Yes, both versions were installed in parallel and in Windows "programs and components" version 12.2 had 8.5 GB, but 12.3 only 4.52 GB.
