Keyboard Shortcut Query (MacOS)

Greets:
I am getting to grips with Ableton Live 12 on the Mac. It's been awhile since I've used it, so brushing up.
I have some field recordings where I want to get rid of some noise at the beginning of the audio clips. I'm able to select the clip portion I want to delete, press the Delete button on my Apple keyboard, done.
I understand there's another way where, when I delete the clip, will advance the rest of the clip to the beginning, instead of me having to select and drag the clip. I tried both Shift-Delete and Cmd-Delete, and neither responded. But when I hit Delete, again, the selection was removed.
I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or if the keyboard shortcut is different. I'd appreciate some guidance.
Thanks!
