Drum Fills

What techniques are there for creating and launching Drum Fills when playing clips in Session View?
Here's an idea. Add the options Play Fill and Mute Fill to a clip's Chance Editor where MIDI notes can be grouped to Play All or Play One. Add a global configuration srtting to identify the CC number (default 64 Sustain Pedal) that when pressed and held will Play or mute the notes across multiple tracks. Using a Push 3 Standalone rig I could use the Sustain Pedal to temporarily activate fills and swells and drum cues to the groove.
Standard practice is to copy the clip, alter the groove, then trigger the clip which waits a spell for the quantization window to complete. Program the clip follow action to return to the original clip and it kinda sort of works.
