iPhone app to control Live — Grip

I'm a longtime Live user (since Live 6), and an indie developer diving into music software.

I made an iPhone-only app for Live (Grip, https://www.gripforlive.com/lf). It’s a utilitarian app to control playback, recording, undo/redo (and saving the file!), and especially navigating arrangement view while playing drums, doing vocals, or anytime you’re not in front of the computer. I added voice commands for hands-free use, made it leftie-friendly, and wanted it to feel like a natural extension of Live.

Unlike Push, or apps like Knobbler, LK, touchAble, etc., it's not really an instrument/creative tool itself, and not customizable. The vision is more like you're already using other instruments (your keys, your voice, your drums, your bandmates/studio-mates) and you just need something to stay in charge of Live even when you're away from the computer. And it's simple, no time configuring or mapping anything.

It's Mac-only for now but I'd love to hear if it works for your workflow, complements other tools or instruments, or what else you'd like to see if anything.

Just updating here with the latest changes to Grip:
  • Works on Android and iOS
  • Compatible with Ableton Live on Mac and Windows
  • Session view for clip launching/recording and mixing
  • On Mac, has both a piano and Push-like pad for tapping out melodies
Links to install at https://www.gripforlive.com/lf. I appreciate any feedback!
