there's that word again! I wonder what NI's perception of "SOON" is....considerably longer than Ableton I would imagine

Exact same problem as I'm having! Can't use it on my Athlon at all, and there's no use upgrading as the newer versions require features that my Athlon doesn't actually support. Damn shame as it's a great program and I really want to record some guitar stuff for use in Ableton.

It crashes on my centrino laptop since I upgraded to Live 5. Generally seems ok if I don't change settings through the graphic interface.

Crashes Live 5 (this was a beta bug that was never worked out). Moreso, I try to use the AU version and it will only let me do it on a MIDI track and not an audio track?!?!?
I'm sure it will be fixed in the first update to 5. I know that they know all about it.

The deal with Cigar Rig sucks but thanks to some folks on this forum there is a sort of workaround - If you are using Live 5 this applies - I have never had problems in Live 4 with Cigar Rig other than performance sucking big time.
When you bring up the GR plugin you can select your banks but NOT your presets - if you do it will crash Live 5 in a most ugly manner. However if you click on the drop down menu of the plugin (NOT GR itself but the plugin doohickey at the bottom of your Live window) you will see all of the presets for the selected bank. So => banks select in GR Presets/Patches => Select in Live plugin doohickey) It might still crash from time to time while tweaking parameters inside effect modules but it's better than nothing.
I hope NI gets their sh*t together soon or I might just burn all of my NI products... And hopefully Ableton will figure out this problem they are having specifically... Don't know about anyone else here but I simply can't wait for IK to finally put out Amplitube 2 - It will blow the doors out of GR and if Amplitube 1 is any indication it will be considerably less of a resource hog and the NOISE my god... Even with bad grounding and cheap effects I never heard so much noise with "real gear" ... Well ok there was this Digitech unit I owned once....

funny you say that, I found Amplitube far less appealing - in fact Guitar Rig has been the first and only time I've ever been happy with amp simulators of any kind, full stop.

Right now GR is the best thing going - but it's a bit of a hit and miss and sometimes it does sound god awful. Amplitube has only worked for me on a couple of ocacssions. The Amplitube that is coming out in September however is probably going to change all of that....

it's so true ,i used to plug synths to guitar amps & cabs till GR came out .
it's a good tool to get a more vintage sound .
