Stronger Auto-Warping like Logic 'Smart Tempo'

I’m reaching out to ask about the current state and future plans for warping in Ableton Live, specifically regarding full-track warping of “live” recordings.

At the moment, I find that warping older tracks particularly 60s and 70s funk, soul, and disco recordings with natural tempo fluctuations still requires a significant amount of manual work. While the existing warping tools are solid, the process can be time-consuming and sometimes frustrating when dealing with full songs that weren’t recorded to a click.

What stands out is that other software seems to have made major progress in this area. For example, Logic Pro’s Smart Tempo can analyse and conform tracks to a steady BPM very effectively, and even DJ software like djay Pro can quantize tracks in real time during playback with impressive accuracy. These tools make it much easier to work with older material quickly and musically.

Given Ableton’s reputation as a leader in warping and its role as both a production and live performance tool, I’m curious if there are any plans to improve automatic warping to this level. Ideally, it would be great to see a system that can intelligently analyse and quantize full tracks to a consistent tempo with minimal or no manual intervention.

Are there any developments in progress around this, possibly for a future version such as Live 13?
