Set yourself up for success in regard to keeping in the creative mood- come up with a way that works for you and your method of working to organize your folders and audio files on your hard drive so you don’t have to disrupt your creative flow to find an audio file. For me i set up my folder structure like this.. (not perfect yet, but getting there)

I found I needed fewer categories so that I could spend less time on deciding where every file fits. In fact I divided my folders into 3 so I can have 1 attached to each 'memory' position (1-3).

1. My Live sets and Folders for audio created in the Live sessions
2. My Sounds - Categorized by sessions (groups)
3. 3rd party - Anything I didn't create (samples)

I'm with neuronaut on this one.

I found the more subcategories I had, the more time I spent expanding and contracting folders trying to get what I wanted.

I'm more interested in "playing" a few samples in realtime (think "beat-juggling"), than cut'n'paste arrangements, so I also make sure that every sample counts - if I'm not using it, I lose it.
