Scroll Wheel Zoom - For the love of GOD! Please.............
I could use some tasty scrollin' action.
There needs to be a quicker way around the arrange page. It's been fine until now. But being as many of us are using Live for a "complete music solution" now as Live has grown, it's time is due for some quicker (and simple) arrange navigation alternatives rather than clicking on everything.
BTW, if key commands are an option for arrange zoom (similar to clip zoom):
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for Mac version "_" and "+", NOT "-" and "+". This is really dumb (sorry). Why not keep them on the same modifier key intead of toggling the control key back & forth when zooming in & out? It's really clumsy, easy to hit the wrong combo going back & forth, and there's no way for us to change these two key commands.

heres my vote too. Especially when tediously editing in arrangerview, this is really needed. Though the click and drag zooming at the top of the arranger is a sweet general concept, it is far too easy to jump to the wrong place when zooming way in and the little rectangle zoom box on the arranger overview at the top gets really small. PLEASE, this would really help speed up traditional DAW arranger work. Not that familiar with other applications like Logic, etc., but I know that Sony Vegas video editing program does a nice job of this, zooming relative to what bar line on the grid that you click on. In Live, if we could click on a bar line next to a late snare hit, then just zoom wheel way in, maybe re-click on an even closer grid line, zoom in more....Could really speed up workflow.

Scroll wheel zoom, middle mouse button pan is the way it should be. Anything else is just a pointless implimentation of uniqueness. This is a convention guys, get with it. Please..?
you know, ive been working with the current way so long now im used to it.
but i do think that there seems to be no good reason why they shouldnt add the more straightfoward conventional way of doing it.
it would be better and faster to just hold ALT or other key over the arrange view - or scrollwheel - to turn your mouse into a zoom tool, and just zoom the freaking thing
and i do agree that they hold onto some methods for uniqueness as opposed to just doing the obvious simple ways of doing things
i also think theyre so buried with trying to fix version 5 still that a lot of these feature requests are going to be sitting here for a while with no response

way true. I just hope they are keeping track of a lot of the requests of late, because I think there are some very sensible and useful requests popping up here lately, all of which could really enhance the application and improve workflow when using Live stand alone as a full-blown DAW, as well as improving on keeping the flow going in live performances (bring presets and midi "select on launch" back for sure!). But I guess we'll just have to wait on these things as they are surely bustin some ass trying to tighten up 5 in general.supster wrote: i also think theyre so buried with trying to fix version 5 still that a lot of these feature requests are going to be sitting here for a while with no response

I don't think there is a set number...just if we whine enough about it, and they get around to making it happen. Consider that this request has been around for a couple of years. Also consider that they didn't implement context menus (dual mouse support) till Version 5. And Cakewalk didn't put in a real metronome till Sonar 4, AKA Cakewalk version 14 !
We just have to keep bumping this and letting the Abes know that this is important to us!

I have a ghetto but workable solution for mouse wheel support:

Did you check out the scripts that I posted? They do the job, at least till the Abes implement it natively.nonodisco wrote:consider this to be another vote cast to help the terrible plight of scroll wheel syndrome.
