FL STUDIO plugin bugs ... and problems with arming tracks

Looking for some help with regards to plugins and arming MIDI tracks ...

bought and installed the following IMAGELINE FL STUDIO VSTi plugins for LIVE 5:

DX10
SIMSYNTH
WASP

Wasp works well, stable, sounds good ... excellent.

DX10 crashes my system upon loading. The crash is so serious that I have to unplug my machine from the electricity in order to turn it off! (SHIT ... I'll take this up with the respective companies)

Simsynth is strange. It loads OK, and when I arm a MIDI track containing this plugin and begin to play some notes it simply sounds wonderful ... a big rich fat bassy sound ... just what I am after. However, when the track is no longer armed and I am playing a MIDI clip (as opposed to playing live) the sound is full of clicking noises. This has nothing to do with the note velocity or position, because when I play the exact same notes it is OK. It is only when the track is unarmed and I am playing a MIDI clip that I hear the noises. Can anyone tell me if this is due to the plugin itself, or due to Ableton Live?

I suspect that is to do with ableton live, as I have experienced other strange phenomena with regards to arming tracks. Try this:

drop a lead operator sound into an empty midi track.
add a chorus MIDI effect set to C harmonic
add a Apperigator set to bouncy chords
add a ping pong delay
set up a empty 4 bar loop and play it
Arm the track and play some notes with the overdub switched on
when the loop is full of notes and sounds good to you just let it play a bit to get used to the sound.
Now unarm the track while the clip is playing
Do you hear a big difference?

I do, and I don't know if it is supposed to be like that, or if I don't understand something, or if it is a bug.

Can someone please advise: with regards to my plugin and my apperigated midi notes ... is there a good reason why in both cases there is a significant difference between armed and unarmed tracks

I use LIVE 5 on a AMD64 3400+ system equiped with an M-AUDIO audiophile soundcard

Hi craw,

does it happen with the current beta Live 5.0.2b3 too?

Hello Alex,

Thanks for your response ... I haven't tried with the latest Beta version. I will give it a try this evening and let you know the result.

Hello again Alex,

I tried version 5.0.2b3 with my FL STUDIO plugins and I got the same problem with clicking audio when working with SIMSYNTH.

To reiterate ... works fine when I play notes into an armed track containing SIMSYNTH, however, if I record the notes into a MIDI clip and then play the clip there is serious clicking and popping (sound clips available on request) .

I experienced the same catastrophic crash when I tried to drop in the plug in DX10 ... I.ll post the details on the beta forum

With regards to the apperigator (never can spell it right off the top of my head). I have noticed now that this works fine with the beta version, but also with the v5.0.1 on my PC. The problem I described earlier with regards to sound differences in armed and unarmed tracks was refering to my MAC (powerbook G4 with inbuilt sound). This is definitely a reproducible issue on my MAC, and the v5.0.2b3 didnt fix it.

Best regards,
Craw.

Hello craw,

let us try to separate things:

1) DX10
- which version of it do you use? Version 1.0.6?
- I tried it with the demo of 1.0.6 and worked without a problem so far.
- Can you reproduce the crash also in with an empty Live set?

2) sound differences in armed and unarmed tracks
- So you get this on your Mac but not on the PC?
- When you unarm the track so that your hear the difference, what happens when you arm it again? Does it then again sound like before?

Alex

hello again Alex,

Thanks for your responses.

1. DX10: I am using DX10.dll v1.1.0.1 (?) ... I downloaded it just 3 days ago from the FLSTUDIO web site (so I assume that it is the freshest version). I tested it in live v5.0.2b3 and have sent the bug reports and other details about my system to [email protected]

The crash occurs whether the live set is empty or not. As soon as the plugin is dragged from the browser things freeze.

2. - yes. I experience the sound difference on the MAC, not the PC
- yes, whenever I toggle the arm button I hear sound differences. Whole notes are missing when the track is armed. If you would like example sound files to hear what I am talking about just give me a shout

best regards,
Craw
