hey folks,
we just got a kind word from Anthony Child, a.k.a. DJ Surgeon that he has used the Covert Operators Operator Patch + Live Clip known as "Digilogue" from the Covert Operators "Live 5 Edition" Vol. 1 on a new track.

you can hear the track which used this pad/chord Live Clip on DJ Surgeon's latest mix here:
http://www.dj-surgeon.com/audio.html (free mp3 download)

It's the last track in the mix and is labeled as 'Surgeon - Untitled 3.2'

I take it this is the same guy known as "The Surgeon". Just never heard him referred to "Dj Surgeon" before. Excellent mix.

Nice mix

good to see he's representin the Vex'd boys!

One prob I have with a lot of these Ableton mixes is the you can blatantly hear the metallic warping on a lot of the tracks. Not good ... but soonish we should have hi quality realtime warping.

Comparing the sound of a DJ playing dubplates and vinyl with an Ableton mix is like .... well I just dont think it does the music justice (in terms of SOUND)

However, i think doing live sets of parts of tracks works better cos you can set the warp for drums, bass, pads etc to which makes it much less noticeable.

as far as metalic realtime warping goes - the new mode sounds pretty good on full tracks, still some transient blurring obviously

as far as it matching a dubplate for quality it doesn't .. but then I've never heard a dubplate timestretch ;)

It's easy to forget what we are working with here. to get the best quality simply switch to warp mode pitch and you won't hear too much difference from a dubplate if your recording is good enough.

aah yeah forgot about pitch mode!

that would definately help - would be more like a CD deck

i just use re-pitch for DJing.
occasionally i will use beats mode when i want the stretched effect (such as for tempo shifts and such).

but yea, Complex is ideal for DJs as even though it takes up alot of CPU, it ain't like DJs are running 8 tracks at once.
