Broked busted frustration

since upgrading a number of applications (cubase sx 3.1, Melodyne 2.6, Reason 3.03), I can no longer open Live 4.1.4 in stand alone mode.
What gives? It hangs while scanning the vstplugins folders.

I have tried to remove and rename the vst folders, all to no avail. I have tried reinstalling live three times. I will probably be upgrading Live after my next project, or so, but until then I would like to continue using Live.

How can I tell live to ignore the vst folder?
Where in the registry is the key that tells live where to find the vst plugins?
help me please!

email me at [email protected],
or reply tho this
thanks in advance for your help.

try trashing your preferences. theres a few threads about the time of the beta talking about this, but it'll be somewhere like:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ableton\Live 4.1.4\Preferences
on a PC.

If you move all of your plugins, that should do the trick if it's a buggy vst plug. DId you remove everything from your vst folder? Try renaming it, then create a new empty folder with the original name.
