LIVE 4.1 Midi note accuracy problem

Hi there, first post here. Love the program.
I'm a music producer/engineer here in Nashville, TN. I record a LOT of live events. My recording medium is Pro Tools HD. To avoid having to record live piano and deal with all the stage bleed, I always have the pianist use a good digital piano, and then I record his/her midi performance into a free wheeling midi sequencer (before now this has always been a Mac Laptop and Logic Audio). I later sync that performance up to the one recorded and replace the digital piano with either great samples from my library, or use a Yamaha Disklavier and record it. With just a little nudging here and there this has ALWAYS worked on the 20+ recordings I've done.
On this last project, I got tired of having to have the Logic dongle, so I decided to use LIVE as my sequencer. Using a USB midi interface as always I set up my Mac laptop (12 inch G4) to record the musician's performance. LIVE recorded all the way through the concert, about 13 songs.
When I got back to my studio I was shocked and horrified that LIVE had NOT accurately recorded the performance. ALL the notes were there, but subtle and sometimes radical timing issues were present. For instance, on the third song the pianist was playing straight quarter notes in the verses, but LIVE makes it sound like the guy is WAY off, some notes being quicker than others, some correct, some early, some late. It's no where NEAR the live recording that I am referencing off the Pro Tools audio track!!
LIVE was set up to record a single track, with Record Quantization OFF. Tempo was set to 120. Does Live not have the resolution to accurately reproduce a live performance? Surely it does.
DOES LIVE have a limitation as to how long it can accurately record without errors? This was a 90 minute concert. Is that a problem for LIVE?
Does LIVE take more CPU overhead? Memory? Buffer for accuracy? Logic has always worked for this application on the same laptop (G4/867, 640 Meg RAM).
WHAT would cause LIVE not to record the musician's performance accurately? There's no way to fix it now, parts of the performance are so inaccurate that some chords and notes are off by a sixteenth note or more in timing.
Please let me know what could have caused these problems. I would like to migrate fully from Logic to Live, but LOGIC has always recorded these free wheeling performances completely accurately. For some reason, LIVE did not come close.
