Echo Indigo DJ problems

Having trouble with this soundcard on my laptop.
Downloaded new drivers
2.8 gig Sempron Acer Laptop
Live 5
even when cpu is on 2 percent
occasional stutters now and again, like some kind of buffere effect
anyone have any ideas what this might be?
