MIDI guru out here in Tucson...or elsewhere?

Hi Everyone,
I'm a new Live user that could use some help on the MIDI setup. I was wondering if any of you live in the area or like lengthy phone conversations as I try to connect my system. I am pretty good on the audio recording side of things, it's just this friggin MIDI. I don't understand why I can't seem to access my Alesis QS7 keyboard patches for playback. So far all I can do is register input (not output from live). I'm sure it is something simple and stupid, but I'd like to configure Live "live" with someone.
Anyway, it is always good to have more friends.
