Hi!

If i have a soft-synt on a midichannel in live 5.
Say vanguard.

I have a midiclip that loops, a bassline for example.

How do I play the clip as a loop, and at the same time lets my midicontroller play with the vanguard.

If i switch the "auto" to "in" the clip stopps, but in auto, the controller wont work.

Help someone!

What???

Isnt the program called LIVE?
Shouldnt this be a piece of cake for live to do?
Must be a way to turn the knobs in clip-mode!

You need to map the controller to the Vanguard's parameters.

set up another midi clip, record enable it (don't record anything tho), send the output of the 'blank' midi clip to the vanguard, hit play, twiddle your knobs

This is way over complicating the solution!

you can use one channel for this if you want to twiddle filters and freeform over the top of a prerecorded set of clips.

How: just turn OVR off and record enable the track you want to play on ... that's it!

EG: FM7 playing chords clip one on midi track named "Fm7" - clip name " chunky chords", turn off OVR, record enable "Fm7" .. done!
Now when you click on a pre-recorded clip you will notice the arrow doesn't go red, but you can play the synth or twiddle the freq /settings / whatever.

Stupid Live instruments
With a VSTi .. you can hit OVR again if you want to add your twiddle permanently to the clip. Stupidly you cant do this with Live's own instruments and effects !!! stupid, stupid. That's why I stick with Fm7 over Operator

I'm sorry,
I don't understand. It is that simple .. I do this all the time.

if you are really talking about just playing the knobs rather than recording them.

do this:

* open live.
* turn OVR off (it's in the main transport bar)
* insert VSTi plugin to midi track
* set track to monitor 'Auto'
* arm track
* use VSTi interface to assign a controller to filter of VSTi
* click an empty clip slot to set a clip recording
* hammer on keys randomly
* click on same clip again - clip play button goes green
* turn the CC you assigned to VSTi filter

hear the filter move over the top of your pre-recorded random key stabbings??

I don't understand how this doesn't work for you.
:?:

I really can't do anything more .... other than come round to your house and move your hands around over the equipment!
