Multi-timbral synth - multi volume ability in mixer

It would be nice to have more control over multi-timbral synths that are using different channel for different instruments right on the mixer. I know this can be done in a number of ways at the present - e.g. in the plug-in itself or thorugh volume/velocity envelopes.
When mixing down, however, it would be great to have control of this in the mixer. At the present time if you have a multi-timbral synth on midi 1 and route additonal tracks to midi the volume slider only appears on track1 since that is the only track putting out audio. It would be nice under such routing however if volume/velocity sliders were shown (perhaps in a different color to avoid confusion) which would affect the instrument volumes of the VST on the different multi-timbrl channels.
Dont' know if that made sense but it would be useful to me.
