what is the status of implementing MIDI loops or instruments
A the moment I like Fruityloops better because it has some nice intruments and also nice effects..
Only live is better in doing the loops..
i am in a dilemma, why not bting the Fruityloops people and Monolake people togeter to make that complete product that I am waiting for ...
p.s. Is PI the evidence that God exists??

you can load a few drumkit samples in session view, assign them to synth keys, and play them into the arrangment...couldn't overlap them but it might be worth have a template set up to do this easily....well you could play each part on a separate track, edit them as wished, then export them and bring them back into the arrangement "fused". If I had four more lifetimes I'd be doing some of that... hey it's weird what happens when you click on an emo-con...text appears unbidden in your posting
I'd like to donate my 255 characters to the deep space fund

already can do this?
First, let me say that I totally agree that MIDI control should be integrated to live. I would pay several hundred dollars for this, in order to avoid getting a midi enabled sequencer that would not be designed as well as live.
But can't the playing of drum kit samples be accomplished already?
You have each sample loaded up in the session view. Each is set to trigger, and mapped to a different key on the keyboard. Quantization should be set to 1/16, or however precise your "keydrumming" is.
Press record, and let the samples fly. When you're done recording, they will be composed in the arranger view as you played them.

Midi output plugin for live
Hi,
I'm thinking of implementing a very simple Midi output plugin for Live. What are the essential features you guys would need.
If, for example, the plug could output a note every 8th of a bar with the following parameters:
note frequency (ie 1/8th bar, 1/4 bar, 1/2 bar, every bar, every 2bars etc.)
note value
velocity
note length
midi channel
Would this be of any use to anyone?
How much would you pay for it?
cheers,
Marcus

Ray: that would be great, just make a simple step sequencer like those in Reason, or the USS environment you can get for logic. 16th notes would be preferable, im sure...
but wouldnt there need to be more done on Ableton's side to implement that?

Midi output plugin for live
I've got a plug sending midi out. The accuracy is not perfect, but ok at 18th bar at 130bpm. At 1/16th there's a bit of stuttering. The method I'm using is a bit crude, and Live's audio thread(s) has a very high priority so the midi I'm sending sometimes has to wait it's turn. It is usable though. I'm planning to use it to control http://www.VJammpro.com.digitalia wrote:Ray: that would be great, just make a simple step sequencer like those in Reason, or the USS environment you can get for logic. 16th notes would be preferable, im sure...

I'm not going to do a gui though so setting up a simple sequence will have to be entered into a text file ;¬)
Check http://www.brightonart.org for an aplha version in a week or 3.
I'll post a notice here.

MIDI out
Used Live 1.5 on Friday night at a gig in Graz, Austria with Midi out to VJamm triggering video clips. Timing fine all worked! Benn wanting to do this for ages.
I'm gonna shareware this plug for 30 euros. It's basic but it works. 3 weets eta.
