Hi folks,

we just uploaded a beta version of the upcoming bug fix update Live 5.0.2.
This Beta is free for every Live 5 user.

Use the following links to download the beta:

Mac: http://www.ableton.com/_common/download ... e502b6.dmg
Win: http://www.ableton.com/_common/download ... e502b6.zip

Please send all beta related feedback to [email protected].

Current version: Live 5.0.2b6
Expire date: 2005-09-26

This versions has also some limitations:
- No manual is included
- No content is included

This version has enabled our bug reporter.
You will notice it when restarting Live after experiencing a crash.
Because of the crash reporter the "restore from undo.cfg" mechanism is
disabled in this beta.
Furthermore the Windows version has additional debug code to dump
information into the log file. Therefore the Windows version is a bit
slower as the final version (something between 5% to 15%).

When starting live 5.0.2b6 for the first time it should open the Beta lesson
which also contains the change log.

Kind Regards,
Alex

The 'Select On Launch' option from the 'Misc' section within Live's preferences affect clips fired via MIDI or KEY Remote too.
Some will be happy with that one !

Too bad I don't have much time to beta test these times.... I was a chicken and used Live4 for a show last week.... I'm ashamed, but still, wait for the second release.

Thanks to the team for so much dedication.
Kind regards,
amo

If a beta crashes and i restart Live i don't get the "do you want to restore from undo history" (or something like that) option. Is there a way to restore that data from the beta testing crash log file?

what exactly does this mean?

it means that when you launch a clip with a remote controler (midi or keyboard), the clip you launch will be displayed.
previously, you had to select it with the mouse.

AND IT'S GREAT!!!!

Yes, great!

And now just add a little modifier button, key and midi assignable of course for selecting the clip you want without triggering it and getting instant focus for zooming in & out with the + & - keys and you did a perfect work.

Just played a two hour set live with this Beta. It was a whopper 4 gig set, in rewire mode with Reason, plus Groove Agent.

No problems whatsoever!

Now only if "Record On Scene Launch" were Midi Assignable. And MIDI controls could be made specific-per-VSTi. But I've been asking for a year now...I'll give up.

if not i'd appreciate a full update cause i don't want to continue beta-testing a program for which i've paid a lot of money...

Yes yes yes! A modifier button so that you could peek at a clip remotely without launching it really would take this idea to its logical conclusion. C'mon guys, this would be dead easy to implement

Hi serotoninsteve and Splashmas,

concerning the
"...a little modifier button, key and midi assignable of course for selecting the clip you want without triggering.."
and
"...A modifier button so that you could peek at a clip remotely without launching it..." issue....

please make a corresponding thread into the Wishlist forum, because:

1) If you make it here it is lost sooner or later

2) Try to describe it a bit more detailed. I'm not sure if I already get it.

regards,
Alex
