sorry everyone.

i hate to be stupid but i searched the preferences and options and printed out a reference copy of the manual and everything and if i missed it somewhere ima smack myself in the nose.

i use reason. extensively. my audiophile 2496 came with live 3 lite and i got a sweet upgrade to live 4 lite. its great fun, but i want to start using it in a more serious sense. the issue i am having is probably very very very obvious- if you have reason and suck at playing keyboard, i bet theres a good chance you draw notes in the piano roll. i do this often.

reason- click and hold, stretches note out to duration of mouse hold.
live- click and hold places many quantized notes.

can live pretend its reason for a second and stretch my notes to the mouse click duration, or is this the only way live programs?

thanks for not making fun of me in advance :D

hover your mouse over the beginning or end of a note

it turns into a ' [ ' or ' ] ' bracket. now click drag, and pull your note

to stretch multiple notes at once SHIFT select them or bandbox, then stretch
.

what supster said,

but you can also turn off draw mode (the little pencil tool at the top of the screen), and double click + drag for that reason style drawing you are used to.

thanks guys, ive been using adamjay's technique so far and it was less... intuitive. ill try them brackets... itll be weird not being able to just draw notes right off the bat, but i guess i just have to evolve a bit more or somethin... such is life!

much obliged! :)
