Hi everyone!
I am thinking of buying a PC notebook to run Ableton Live on it. I am going to use it for looping audio in real time on the fly and running playback. What notebook would you recommend and what setup?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I assume you're performing/DJing with it? I don't know what your requirments are.
I'd just go with a midrange Dell, and pay the extra $200 for the "Complete Care" warranty, more memory and a faster drive. The point with the warranty is it'll be covered if it gets dropped, bumped, spilled in, barfed on. The only things not covered are fire, theft and hammer marks. We're talking about $1800(US) for a decent mid-level machine.
Consider an external 7200 RPM drive exclusively for audio.
As for audio interface, opinions vary. The Echo Indigo/IO gets the job done for a nice price. Others may have better ideas.
All that should fit in a gig bag.

I recommend M-Tech.
Every bit as good as Dell.... but much less $$.

I suggest you find a good, 15.4" wide screen Pentium M laptop. Best performance for price you will find.

Those are good prices. I can't find complete details on the warranty, but will call. I did find this:

But it doesn't say if they cover accidental damage. Do they?

And I would say IBM, quite tough and nice.
There are already old threads about the exact same topic, try to do a search.

Also, check out SagerNotebooks.com . I've been very happy with mine, and I've got two internal 7200 RPM drives which never have issues with running loads of tracks in Live.

Don't get Sager.... when M-Tech uses the EXACT same cases, but for less $$$.
