memory leak in 5.01?

I have a large set opened and rehearsing for several hours and noticed glitches starting to happen when i selected new clips or moved knobs.
my mem usage was up over 500MB for LIVE (1gb ram)

when i restarted Live, the set was taking only ~300MB.

could Live have been leaking memory over time?

anyone else noticed anything like this with sets being played for hours?

i quit live and relaunch it. memory was at 300.

weird very weird.

heya, there are many different posts about the various memory problems. Usually the problem happens if you switch to a diff app while live is running, then switch back to live (or minimize then maximize live).

do a search for memory usage and see if anything helps...

why would this be a memory leak?

This doesn't really sound like a leak...
You need to take into cosideration that live has unlimited undo capacity. Depending on how the Ableton's wrote thier app, the undo histroty could be stored in ram.

I can't verify this personally, but just thought i'd throw my thought out.

I don't know if it's a memory leak or not but I have been hit by this as well.

I have a project that normally uses around 20-30% CPU. If I just sit back and listen then all is well, but If I start making changes to the mix or interacting with the GUI in other ways the sound gets progressively worse with horrible crackling noises etc. and repetetive chuging noises where the sound gets busy. eventually just moving the mouse screws up the sound.

save changes - restart - reload. all is ok at first, but then the sound starts to crack up again after a while.

I've also noticed this with the Live5 performance test track, so it must be something ableton related and not a third party plugin that's causing the problem.

This definately needs fixing in the next release.

for me, i can open live, hit start on a blank set, and watch the memory usage climb in the taskmanager when i do nothing. it gets short bursts of memory increase when i click from the taskmanager window to the live window and back.

this is a very strange bug.

I haven't monitored the memory usage but I have had it crash on me multiple times the past couple of days since I started using it. I had several clips in track one, 3 in track 2, SIR 1008 installed for impulse responses on both tracks and it just blew up and exited with no error messages. Happened again tonight mucking around with some clips and SIR. I don't think it's related to it as I have had no problems in the 4.1.x versions.
