Hi,

First I wanna thank Ableton for finally releasing a (sort of) stable Live Version (>5b6). Cost me heaps of crashes (an average of 1 crash/hour!) working with L5 before that release.

Anyways, one thing is still freaking me out:

I am working on a long piece of music in arrangement view. In the track arrangement and overview there`s always a bit cut of the end. My clips seem to be cut of a virtual border. I think it is at 40 minutes or so (can look it up again). When I try to zoom/scrub to the real end of the song, it will stop at this point and I can't go any further. One way around this, is to hold down the mouse button, open a selection box and drag the box to the right until it reaches the "end" of my song. Then the arrangement and overview open up to right again and unveils the end of the song.

On certain actions (like jumping to a marker) the track overview snaps back again and I have to drag the selection box again to work on the real end of the song!

Any ideas? Does Live 5 have a hidden track length restriction?

First the good news:

Since it drove me nuts and I didn't want to wait for L6 to get bugs fixed, I tried to figure out, what was causing the strange behaviour in arrangement overview. I deleted a couple of tracks and suddenly the whole song appeard in the overview. Awesome! Furthermore, I found out that a volume envelope set on one track caused the troubles. After clearing it, the overview snapped to show the whole song, like it's supposed to be. (This is reproduceable in L5.01 & L5.02b6/7, btw!)

The bad news (and embarrasing too, since my client was sitting next to me):

L5.02b7 just crashed 4 times in a 5 hour session. Like always on my system after certain actions: copy/paste, select all, undo, etc.

Even worse the beta wouldn't even ask me, if I want to restore the last undo. That cost me another hour of work, since I forgot to save. Plus: it took like 10 minutes (no kiddin and no possibilty to cancel!?) to generate the .alp file. Now I got four brand new .alp files. You want em Abes? You'd have to come and get em, since each is a mere 460Mb.

Anyways, I got the choice:

a very unstable L5.01 with my favourite Live feature: recover from last undo

or

a bit more stable L5.02bX, no recover from undo => save often save early and 15 mins waiting time on each (unfortunately unavoidable) restart

I am wondering, is there a chance to ever get just a halfway stable L5 running on my ibook with 768Mb ram? L4 crashed as well, but only once a month, not once an hour!
