hello all,
i went into Leeds on saturday night to watch James Zabiela...of course he was amazing!
But he seemed to be using a laptop, which iv never seem him do, a UC-16 (i think.) but only to add effects. i couldnt see wat program it was but i assumed it would be Live.
also, can anyone tell me wat the link between James Zabiela and (i dont like to mention his name) Sasha? iv heard a lot about them both but dont no how they're linked
peace out
James Zabiela, last saturday
Hey
I think the reason you may have heard a lot about JZ and Sasha is that JZ spent a lot of time opening up for Sasha during his gigs. Sasha tipped him as a "future hero" a while back. Personally I think the student has now become the master. I saw JZ a while back and was blown away by his mixing. In that instance though he was using CDJ 1000s and the pioneer EFX-1000.
His last CD for Renaissance was a double header, one mix done in Ableton and the other on his CDJs and Samplers. I have never seen him using Live but wouldnt be surprised if he has started now. I heard from the Abes newletter that Pete Tong was thinking of using Live for the essential selection...
cheers

if u read the bumph that comes with jz's first album for renaissance (wicked by the way) it explains how he began and how he met sasha. I too agree jz is now showing the rest including sasha how its done. i've been djing for 13 years have cdj 1000's etc and ableton. these guys are wicked no matter what anyone in this forum says.!!

ive noticed a lot of guys using live, but yet still 2 see jz in action,,only good reports about him,and yeh theres allways new talent pushing threw,,i heard sasha dropped all his records he owns in 2 a virtual record box,,so he could use in live e.t.c apparently this tuck him 9 months with a full team helping him,,ive been dj-ing and producing for well over 10 years now and as crazy at it seems just have not found time 2 get in to the lap-top mixing or even just mixing trax e.g in 2 live,,,,may b i need to sit down and suss it out,,which brings me to the point,,how are you guys doing this,,are you just simply dragging your trax in 2 live and mixing on the fly,,recording then going over the sequenced track or is it more complex than that,,possibilties must me endless...thanks
