Excellent thread.... must remember that trick about controlling dynamics with an EQ
And, for the probable few that haven't seen it already, check out the trials & tribulations of a certain engineer struggling against further mindless incompetence:

Actually, the way you are already doing it is clearly the best way. You are amazing.
You think so? Well, as i've stated many times, i'm very happy with my sound but for some reason these 'so-called' engineers (market whores in reality) come in and try to tell you how 'it should be done', just like these idiots who say if you don't own a pair of magic tree sap NS-10 monitors you'll never be able to make a recording that sounds good enough to be played on everyone else's stereo. What a load of shit! I've said all along my compression/limiting method produces a decent result for me but they're trying to convince me its wrong! Such idiots! I've tried it 'their way' and it completely SUCKS.
No, I lied, you're a fucking retard.
hahahahahahahaha

this made me laugh alot :
"And for the record "Ludacris" is a no-talent, dime a dozen rap artist. The word you're looking for is Ludicrous. Learning to spell from rappers is like learning photography from the blind."

I imagine the JP22 guy to look like the comic book guy on the simpsons and say things like "..as my breakfast burrito is rapidly congealing I will be brief..."

Exactly why I gave up all that recording, mixing and engineering to persue my true love of feed back loops through Live. I really don't identify with how people like things to sound... most don't enjoy feedback in the mix and I personally can't get enough but, thanks to the vast knowledge infultrated to my dimension via this wonderful thread I may be able to work out my personal dynamics and rephase myself to reality.
Not Likely!

this is weird and surreal,
I stopped comprehending the meaning of the word 'compression' after a while. I think it was pretty incidental to those guys too!
reminded me of my favourite phone rant (that I sometimes run over sets just to annoy /freak people)
crop circle crazy guy rant
oh man, that is the best rant.
enjoy!
