is there a way to edit the default 'new' session template to include a default midi map so I don't have to set every file up from scratch?

I would like to know this too ! it would be much easier than doing it new every song ! someone HAS to know...

Just set up yr map how you like it in a new session of Live, name it, and open it up when needed. It won't automaticly open when Live is launched, but so what...Just remember to save under a different name if you do anything else beyond that.
