Head phone volume not working.

Ok everyone know that to the side of the master bolume there is a vloume control for the headphones right? Well, mine's not working. It only worked once. I keep turning it the volume up and down but nothing happens. The master volume workd perfectly though. And yes it is turned on. (the button is blue)
using Windows XP.

do you have everything set right in preferences menu and your sound card control panel?

I don't have a sound card. Never have not even with Live 4.
