Any real producers here. Or are you all just MP3 Dj's

Dont mean to stir the pot here.
But how many of Live users actually create their loops and phrases, the old fashioned way with a Synthesizer, guitar or microphone..? Using programs such as Reason, Cubase or Sonar to create your loops and export them as audio or midi..?
Or are people here just grabbing the free DVD's that come with Computer Music magazine, loaded with gigabytes of royalty free loops, or using Recycle and chopping up other peoples work, or even worse, throwing a few MP3's into Live and calling themselves a DJ..

Sure you don't...

And I have a fantastic time doing it!

I tend to rip off this producer i like called "plainfaced". he does some great cutting edge stuff, really original. Anyway, I get his trax from Limewire, import them into Live, cut them up, then pass myself off as A DJ...I tell you man, the fucking fools i play for go mad for it, they really do.
What does "MIDI" mean?

Wow ! Your question is great and so naive at the same time !
I do both, and I do not feel that any of the two activities is less "artistic".
I do what I need and I do not stop until I'm happy with the result.
Call this what you want...

Been producing for about 10 years, seriously for the last 4 ....... never mixed with an mp3 in my life, in fact i've never DJ'd with Live (yet). Live has become one of my main production tools, although I still use Cubase sometimes.

same here. It's funny though, cos I love the concept of presets, but I alwaysalwaysalways end up doing my own sounds anyway. It really depends on your way of working, I guess. Some people really dig just throwing in a bunch of presets, tweaking them a bunch, and calling it a day.

Same here. everything is made from scratch.
Liveclips are making life a bit easy though.
One sample can become a bunch of loops, presets and part of a kit
