Just an idea

Ableton that runs on a dsp card.

+ Takes no Cpu of your machine.
+ Good for the company, less cracks?

- latency that the transfer of audio data to and from the dsp card causes
- rewriting the dsp code to run on a dsp chip instead of a standard cpu
- pci, firewire and usb2 all have their problems and none of them would support all the systems you can run live on now
